This link is to a great article on socialization. (click the post title to take you to the article) It compares home school socialization to school (private or public) socialization. I have heard the argument that public schools are our children's mission field, and that it would be wrong to pull them out of that mission. The problem with this argument is that children of christian parents do not usually accept Christ as their savior at birth, and thus when going off to school at age 4 or earlier are not even Christians. Should we send non-Christians into the mission field? Saying they do accept Christ as savior young (4 or 5) then do we expect them to have the maturity to then spread the gospel to their peers? What about when they are 10, 12, 14? They will have been surrounded since very young childhood by an environment that touts acceptance of every religion (except of Christ), promotes worldliness and Godlessness, teaches that you can chose your gender orientation, and passes out condoms to fifth graders. Hmm...
